How To: Spring Beauty Trends

As seen on.. The Social

Spring is upon us and so is a whole new season of trends. Wondering how you can carry out these looks in your everyday life? We break down each style step-by-step to make your morning routine that much easier.

Almost everything we’re seeing this season is natural with minimum effort required. We’re stepping away from the overly contoured Instagram-inspired makeup and moving onto looks that are simple, but still allow you to express your personality.

If you saw any of the runway shows this spring, you would’ve seen some of the models donning a glossy eyelid. What’s fantastic about this trend is the simplicity of it when you incorporate it into your day-to day life.

A product we have been loving is Milk Makeup’s Face Gloss. Simply take a bit of product on your finger and tap it onto the centre of the lid. If you want a pop of colour, ensure your eyeshadow is applied first to have the most impact. Remember that the fewer layers the better with this look, as you want to avoid it getting messy.

The glossy lid should always be the final step in your makeup routine, and it’s important to note that this look has a time limit. It may not last for your full 8-hour work day, so rock this look in a photograph or when you’re looking to make a statement.

Another look that we’re seeing more and more of is having athletic, dewy skin and a statement red lip. This trend is super easy to achieve, and creates an almost ethereal feel to the face.

One of the easiest products to achieve this look is probably already sitting in your cupboard. Start by using coconut oil and dab it on your cheekbones, brow bones, down the bridge of the nose and on your cupid’s bow. Feeling super dry? Try using the coconut oil as an all-over moisturizer.

The Nudestix Intense Matte Lip & Cheek Pencil will take you from day-to-night with it’s non-drying, long lasting formula. Since it’s also a lip liner and cheek colour, it’s the perfect pencil to throw in your purse and go. Start by perfecting your pout, so you know exactly how much colour needs to be added to the rest of the face. Dab the remainder onto cheeks and eyes using your finger tips.

If you're worried about looking like an oil-slick, try using a mattifying foundation on top of your coconut oil. It will still make your skin look hydrated while keeping the oil under control.

The last trend is not for the faint-hearted. Bold washes of colour have been popping up everywhere this season. The good news is they're not only for the festival-goers, you can easily keep the colour controlled and wearable.

It's about time we give our matte shadows a break, and that's where the Tarte Make Believe In Yourself Eye & Cheek Palette comes in. Start with a matte base and layer the frosted colour onto the lid and the crease. If you're feeling adventurous, also dab some colour onto the cheeks & lips.

We love pastels, but especially baby blue, because it creates the illusion that your eyes are brighter and gives an almost high-beam brightness in photographs.
