Here at Radford, we're known for our one-of-a-kind customizable services. One of those being a healthy-hair boosting Keratin treatment. Something you've probably heard of but were never quite sure if it was right for you. Allow us to give you all of the information you need for the best hair of your life.
What is it?
If you're someone who's more used to playing tug-of-war with your hair than actually brushing through it, a Keratin smoothing treatment might be the answer. Your hair is actually made of keratin, but after extended exposure to the elements (sun, styling & the environment), a lot of the keratin is lost.
Keratin treatments fill in the gaps where keratin has been weakened, so hair becomes more resistant to humidity and is left with a healthier, shinier appearance.
Who performs it?
Two of our senior stylists, Saira and Soroush can perform a Keratin treatment. The price will be dependent on the length of your hair, which is why we always require a consultation beforehand. The service starts at about $400.
Who is it for?
Customers who suffer from frizzy, coarse or damaged hair would benefit from a Keratin treatment.
Is there somebody who should NOT be having this service?
It really depends on your hair type. If your mane is fine and naturally silky, a Keratin treatment may not be beneficial for you. Feel free to inquire with us if you're unsure.
How long does it take?
Again, the process depends on the length and texture of your hair. Those customers with Rapunzel locks are likely to spend more time in the chair. Be prepared to be in the salon for at least three hours.
How should you take care of your hair before and after the treatment?
If you want to make the most out of your treatment, avoid sulfates in your shampoo and wash as infrequently as possible. Also if you get it done in the summertime, try to limit your dips in the pool because chlorine is hard on the longevity of your keratin service.
How long does it last?
Depending on the post-care taken by the client, the treatment usually lasts for about 4-6 months.
Is there formaldehyde in your treatment? Is it harmful?
Formaldehyde is a colourless, strong smelling gas, used in building materials and many household products. It is harmful, which is why it NOT present in our Keratin treatments at Radford. Exposure may cause irritation to the eyes, ears, nose and throat.
